Keep The Passion Burning!

Creativity runs in our family. My mother is a retired preschool and grade school teacher and my father used to design or remodel cars or any vehicles in his auto shop. Of course, teachers dealing with small kids must be very artistic and resourceful in order to get the children’s attention. Designing or remodeling cars also requires a unique talent in art to do so. Luckily, my siblings and I inherited our parents’ talents. Since I was a kid, I had always loved drawing. I used to join in art competitions, poster-making contests, and cartoon editorials in our school paper. When I was in secondary school, I practiced drawing faces of real people using charcoal and sometimes, only ordinary lead pencils. Then, I tried painting using oil pastels, then water color, and eventually, I learned how to use poster paints neatly. I enjoy mixing different hues and creating a new color which matches my imagination so perfectly! I like to paint sceneries and flowers, but I find it hard to make an abstract painting. I also love to draw anime characters like Japanese Manga.

Nonetheless, I have not painted any portrait for over four years, not a single one. So, tomorrow, I’ll rush to the mall and grab a new set of painting materials so I can get started. I’d like to check if I still have the talent. I thank my friend for reliving my passion in painting and drawing again. He revived my passion in Art. Like what he said, I will not let the passion in Art die inside me.

Memory Card I/O Device Error

December 17th, 2008 janzynn may Posted in Business & Finance, Career & Education, Computer, Computers & Internet, Science & Technology 2 Comments »

If an I/O Device Error appears on your computer screen upon left-clicking your Memory Card and you have troubles opening your files, you may need to format your MMC or SD Card. If you cannot format it on your computer, try formatting it on your phone or camera. But of course, the data in your memory card will be lost, so, be quick and clever enough to perform backup tasks before doing so.

However, there is a Memory Card Data Recovery Software that you can find on the internet and download it into your computer. I have tried it when I had problems opening my MMC files and it worked. The lost data were all retrieved. That’s one good news!

Then, if the memory card works good on your phone or camera, try to connect it again to your computer. If it yields the same result, an I/O Device Error still appears on the screen and you cannot left-click the memory card, then, there may be some problems with your Card Reader. The card reader may have corrupted the files in your SD or memory card.

Even if you buy a new SD or MMC and try it on with your card reader, you may just be risking the new SD or Memory Card and waste your money. The card reader may already be damaged, and if it already is, it will damage every card you put in it. Instead, buying a new Card Reader gets the problem solved. Period.

Today’s Greatest Boxer: Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao

December 7th, 2008 janzynn may Posted in Business & Finance, Career & Education, Computer, Entertainment, Family Affairs, Living & Lifestyle, Travel No Comments »

DREAM MATCH: Philippine Boxing Hero Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao versus The World’s Middleweight Boxing Champion Oscar “Golden Boy” De La Hoya held on December 6, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is world’s most-awaited and greatest boxing fight of the year! Filipinos all over the world kept glued to their television sets and the internet to watch their National Boxing Hero’s most amazing fight.

People did not expect that the smaller and less popular Manny Pacquiao could knock the 10-time world champion out in just 8 rounds. Pacman had just proved to the world how strong, fast and powerful boxer he is when he made the Golden Boy De La Hoya quit the game after the 8th round. He left De La Hoya defeated with battered face and shut, swollen left eye. Pacquiao landed jabs more than twice of De La Hoya’s and finished the game clean of any cuts.

Despite of all the successive victories he had, he still chose to remain humble and God-fearing which makes him more than a legendary, most respected athlete. Indeed, Pacquiao is really a professional fighter and he deserves it all.

Using Priestess of the Moon effectively

Others call it “potm” in abbreviation of priestess of the moon. Priestess of the moon is a support-ganker type heroine. Her Elune’s Arrow combined with Leap and Starfall makes this heroine very dangerous in the hands of a professional Dota player.

Here are some tips on how to make her arrows deadly. Click the image to see full-size.

1. When targeting an enemy, make sure to hide on the woods. An arrow that passes through trees cannot be easily evaded.

2. In harassing an enemy, make sure your arrow will pass through a one-way path.

3. On the lane, while still waiting for the enemy’s creeps to attack, make sure to release the arrow. The enemy assumes that you are on your lane and waiting for another creep wave. It is advantageous to release arrows on blind spots.

4. Using Potm, player should think in advance, like what if your hero is about to die and what are the possible paths that he’ll take? Think.

5. You shouldn’t think twice when releasing elune’s arrow. This will distract your concentration. The chance for the enemy being hit may decrease to 1%. lol

From PangYa To The Real World of Golfers

October 26th, 2008 janzynn may Posted in Business & Finance, Career & Education, Computer, Computers & Internet, Entertainment, Health, Living & Lifestyle No Comments »

Looking back to my college years, playing online computer games was my favorite pastime. PangYa, an online golf game, was one of the best games I had played. Playing PangYa was really cool and full of fun!

I thought golf in the actual setting is boring and is as simple as ABC. When I first tried holding a golf club and positioning myself to hit the ball like a professional golfer, I was scared like I wouldn’t want to play at all. The very thing that made it tough for me is the weight of the club. Because the club was a bit heavy, I was afraid that I might also throw it away as I hit the ball. Good thing because a friend was there to coach me. My first few strikes were bad and bunker but I recovered some of them though. And it’s sad to say that after my first golf tryout, I had blisters in my hands and muscle pains in my limbs. Bitter but I really had a great time on my very first actual hands-on at the TSR Golf Driving Range. Thanks to a dear friend, Kuya Jun, for warmly lending me his golf set and for giving me few tips on how to play golf the proper way. Now, I am looking forward to try another few rounds and I am positive that I will learn golf in no time. This is something new for me and I also want to test the waters.

To the golf newbies like me, good luck and strive hard! Let us welcome ourselves to the world of golf! Cheers!

Recovering your Iphone in DFU mode

July 17th, 2008 janzynn may Posted in Computer, Science & Technology No Comments »

This procedure was taken from the Ziphone 3.0 software which may be useful in downgrading iPhone Firmware 2.0 to 1.1.4.

Full Hardware DFU:

1) Start iTunes and plug the phone in.
2) With the phone powered on, hold both the POWER and HOME buttons for mseven seconds. The screen should turn black.
3) Wait two seconds while the screen is black and release the POWER button while still holding the HOME button.
4) The screen will remain black, but after a few more seconds iTunes will detect the phone in recovery mode.
5) Release the HOME button and proceed to restore firmware with iTunes. Timing is fairly important on this. If your phone reboots or ends up in recovery mode, just try again. You might want to look at a clock that shows seconds while you do this. The timing needs to be exact for it to work. If you enter this mode by mistake, hold the HOME and POWER buttons for seven seconds until you see the Apple logo and immediately release both buttons. The phone should reboot normally, assuming a valid firmware image is present on the phone.

Configuration of wireless ad hoc connection using Windows Xp

July 11th, 2008 janzynn may Posted in Computer No Comments »

The configuration of wireless ad hoc connection is very useful in the connection between PC and iPhone. The steps are not very complicated and straight-forward as written below:

a. Proceed to the Wireless Network Connection Properties under the Network Connections (by right clicking it) found in your Desktop or Start-Up Menu or Control Panel.

b. A window will appear and under the Wireless Networks Tab, Click the Add button

c. Input the Network name (SSID) at any name you prefer. You may have the option to Connect to the network even if it is not broadcasting and also an option to create a security authentication (Setting it to open could be a security risk). And at the bottom of the window is a check box to select to have a computer-to-computer (ad hoc connection). Check this one and also tick the selection Connect when the network is in range under the Connection tab.

d. Under the General Tab select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Item and set or click the Properties to set-up the Static IP address to 10..3.3.1 and Subnet address to 255.255.255.0

e. Close all the window and left click Wireless Network Connections and you will see the ad hoc connection name in the list and activate it by clicking the Connect button.
